Is it something to do with their color?

Have you noticed that orange stripey cats seem to be bigger than your average cat? Like Lin's Hobbes for instance.

Whenever I post a picture of BB, the orange boy, people comment that he eats well, implying that he is fat. He is not - but he is very tall and very long. He is a BIG boy.

This is BB at approximately 5 months old - we had just adopted him from the Madison-Greene Rescue only an hour or two before...

And this is the very same BB, in the very same place (my husband's lap), almost exactly four years later...

Hmmmm...

I'd not thought about this before, but you may be on to something. I can't get close to cats. Highly allergic. Within an hour being near a cat I am wheezing something awful and I had cats for years. Sigh.

Have a terrific day. :)

Orange stripeys only come in one size....EXTRA LARGE. I don't know what it is, but you gotta love 'em. I just pre-posted a retro shot of Hobbes for next week and you should see his feet!! While his body was little, his feet gave us an indication of what was to come.

I'm thinking it just means there is more to love. :)

Priscilla, you definitely should!

Sandee: Cats are just so funny and affectionate - it must be hard to be without one. I like dogs too, had them growing up but I have to admit that they are so much work. I'm too old to be getting up at 6 am and going walkies!

Lin: After seeing the orange kitties here I am firmly convinced that orange=big. This is the third striped tabby I have had, Miss Frankie is a brown striped tabby, and ZuZu was also a brown stripped but was more Siamese than Frankie is - BB has the long Siamese tail and loooong legs...but I have to tell ya, he is not the brightest bulb on the marquee. Miss Frankie is way smarter than him.

BB did fill out when he grew up! I just love his markings on his feet and nose! Our neighbor has an orange cat and when I posted a photo of him on my blog people thought he was way too skinny! He eats plenty well though and snacks on mice and birds.

Never been owned by an orange one, but I do know those in our area are BIG ones for sure. Must be something in the water, huh?

That is one handsome kitty for sure. Love the pix of the 'lap monster'.

Sharla: He has perfect white socks on his front paws. He also has freckles on his nose!

Roy: BB doesn't fit on my lap all stretched out like that - he has to curl up in a ball to fit but my husband is 6'6" so his is the preferred lap!

Janet: See? I'm tellin' ya - it's their color.

A truly beautiful boy. I'm just realizing that I haven't come across many orange kitties in my life. Strange ...

What a beautiful puss! In a way it's a shame they can't always stay small, but a bigger cat gives you more to cuddle.
